5 Ways To Recharge To Be a Better Mom!

Ok Ladies, lets face it... some days we wake up and we Just. Aren't. Feeling. It.  You know what I'm talking about.

Bare minimum days. Messy hair (that doesn't even remotely resemble that "carefree" hairstyle you saw on Pinterest last night), leggings and a tank (I mean.. I MIGHT work out later), barely out the door on time. Trust me, we have all been there.

But now and then you might notice these days are a little more frequent... That's when you know that its time for a recharge!  No shame in it ladies. You spend hours, days, weeks, months, and years caring for kids, boyfriend, husband... Its time for YOU!

So how do you recharge yourself? Here are 5 of my favorite go-to methods to find my inner zen, so I can get back in the day to day swing!

  1. Pamper yourself! - This one might seem a little obvious, but its probably the most important. Have you ever heard the saying "look good, feel good, do good"? Basically, when you take time to take care of yourself (whether you do it at home or in a salon or spa) you FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF! Why is this important? Because when you feel confident in yourself, you carry that into your work and family life! So take that bubble bath, do those nails, lotion up, and show off!
  2. Get Active! - I know what your thinking... no I'm not telling you to go run laps! But its a scientific fact that when you get in at least 20-30 minutes of sweat time, your body starts releasing serotonin and endorphins (feel good hormones)! So walk the neighborhood, jump rope in the drive with your kiddos, or put on your favorite music and get moving! (added bonus... you may lose a lb or two!)
  3. Alone Time! - Ok so this one is harder, but crucial! I know I struggled a lot with feeling guilty about "taking time away" from being with my family. But honestly, you will see the benefit once you have tried it! There is a reason they say "absence makes the heart grow fonder", and that works double when you take a little "me time". Not only will you feel recharged and ready to jump right back into SuperMom mode, but this will also create a new appreciation of you from your family when they have to be a little more self reliant!
  4. Take Care Of Your Health! - This should be a no brainer! Your health should always be a priority. We all know when mom is down and sick, everything crumbles! So take preventative measures! Take a daily vitamin, try and eat a balanced diet with more fruit and veggies and less starches and sugars, and spend some time researching other ways to take care of your body inside and out!
  5. Make Time For Your Passions! - I cant stress this one enough!! You cannot give from and empty container! Take time to fulfill your passions and hobbies... after all you make sure the kids get to dance, soccer, gymnastics, and baseball. Grownups need that room and opportunity to grow and learn new things just like kids do! My high school coach always used to tell us "if you aren't improving you only have one way left to go.. back." So make sure you are giving yourself the opportunity to grow your mind!

So now its time for you to put this list into action! The next time you are feeling a little "off", or just feel like you need to recharge, listen to your body and mind... its telling you its time to focus on Mom! Your needs are important too!

Its So Nice To Meet You!

Hello Everyone! First, I would like to thank you for choosing to spend your down time showing support for my little blog "Two Points For Mom". I am very excited to have this opportunity to share my insight and adventures with you all! Hopefully you are just as excited to hear them!

Now for introductions! My name is Jennifer, I am 29, and I was born and raised in Central Arkansas. I grew up in a small town (population 800!), where everyone knows everyone, and their parents knew your parents. In 2007 I gained the biggest gift I could have imagined, and became a MOM! Then again in 2009, when my youngest son was born. If nothing else in my life, I can say I am proud to be their mother!

For many years I struggled as a single mother, always trying to provide for their needs above my own... when in 2016 I met the man who would (little did I know) become my husband! Now most women will brag on their husband or boyfriend.. but ladies and gentleman I really did hit the jackpot with him. He is selflessly devoted to me, hardworking, a wonderful father and a great role model for my boys, and I now have the privilege of having his beautiful daughter to love as my own! Talk about blessed!

So you may ask.... is this just another Mommy Blog? Well yes and no.
  • Yes I will be bragging on my little ones(or not so little.. when did they get that tall??!).
  • Yes I will be sharing tips and tricks I have learned that have helped me as a mother (and now Stepmother!)
  • Yes I will have many pictures of my family!
But I am also starting this blog to grow and better myself. Too often we moms let our own goals, passions, and gifts go unheeded while we care for those around us. At 29 I realize I have a lot of years left in my life, but I want to make sure I have enough life in my years! So if you are like me, and love your family but still want to grow and learn and achieve more, I hope you will follow along with me as I try to bridge the gap!
